I had one of our students tell me that they heard Christmas music the other day. Of course, if you have been in any of the stores you will find that is also true. The sadness of the situation is that the day after Christmas everyone is ready to take everything down, and it is all over for them. But we, as a Church, will be just beginning to celebrate Christmas! It is a challenge for us as Christians to celebrate the season of Advent and prepare for Christmas when we are celebrating Christmas already during Advent.
This year the first Sunday of Advent is not the Sunday after Thanksgiving, but the following Sunday because Christmas falls on a Monday this year. We will be celebrating the Feast of Christ the King on the Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend.
We just celebrated All Souls’ Day. Those who gave money for that envelope will have those loved ones prayed for during this entire next year as part of the Purgatorial Society. If you notice, on Wednesdays there is a Mass for the Purgatorial Society which is celebrated in school, and then there are other masses which will be celebrated in church, too. Thanks for your generosity.
